How to take notes from reels

A reel teaches you something useful, and by evening you can't remember the steps or even which reel it was. Taking notes means pausing every few seconds.

Now the reel's words become your notes: copy them into Notion, Google Docs or a message to yourself, or keep them in Reelread with a link back to the reel. Reelread is a Chrome extension that turns what's said in a reel into text you can copy: free for 7 a day, Complete $11 once.

Free: unlimited transcripts for your first 5 days, then 7 a day. Reelread Complete: lifetime access for $11 including tax, paid once, sold by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record.

How do I turn a reel into notes?

Transcribe the reel, trim what you don't need and paste the rest into your notes. The whole reel is there as text, so there's no pausing every few seconds.

  1. Open the reel in Chrome on your computer, click the Reelread icon and press Transcribe.
  2. When its words appear, edit out what you don't need.
  3. Copy them into Notion, Google Docs, Obsidian or wherever you keep notes, or download them as a Markdown file.

What can't it do?

It writes down what's said, so diagrams and text shown on the screen stay in the reel. It works on one reel at a time, in Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a computer.
